Treasure Hunt Trail

Leave Allhallows Field and head towards Northcote Lane. Look for the plaque marking the purchase of the playing fields.

 1. J. M. Barrie wrote Peter Pan, but what is the surname of the man (who shares the same initials) who helped buy the fields for local residents?

2. Walk up Northcote Lane and find a delicious place for a treat. What is the name of Charlie’s sister in the books by Lauren Child?

Turn left when you reach the High Street and walk up to St Paul’s Church.

3. Look for a plaque on the wall to the left. Find the surname of a man who shares his first name with the owner of someone with an amazing technicolour dream coat.

4. Look for a bench dedicated to a King with the same first name as the boy who won a ticket to visit a Chocolate Factory. What is his surname? (Clue: it is also the name of a castle, a safari park, and a town in Berkshire!)

5. On the front of the war memorial, find the name of the boy who asked for more porridge. What are his first two initials?

Continue up the road for a short distance, then cross at the next crossing. Walk back down the High Street until you reach Old School House Court on the left.

6. What is the name of the first cottage, which is also the first name of the title character in The Great Gatsby?

Turn left up New Street and walk up to the library.

7. Who painted the mural and also shares a name with a fast-moving character in a Roger Hargreaves book?

Little Miss

Cross over the road and walk back down.

8. Look for a blue Historic Honiton sign outside Fairfield House. Two doctors once worked here, but which one shared his name with a horrid character in books by Francesca Simon?

9. Stop at the Star Inn. What was the name of the most famous racing pigeon? (Clue: Harry Potter was friends with someone with a similar name.)

  Dream

Continue down the road until you come to a shopping court.

10. C. S. Lewis wrote The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, but what colour is the statue of the lion you will find as you walk through?

Final Challenge

Take the letter highlighted in red from each answer and rearrange them to reveal the name of the owner of the famous Chocolate Factory:

Who is it?

Don’t forget to take your answers to the Information Point on Allhallows Playing Field.
